Preview: Ricany v Vitézek
2010-02-26 18:11Czech and Hungarian Cup Winners feast for CEE Rugby Final Four.
The first Quarter-Final will be held in the Czech Republic on 6th March and features two teams who defied expectations during the group stages. Vitézek managed to surprise experts by finishing second in Pool B, which included two Romanian teams. Their most memorable fixture was the away match against Arad, the team they beat to second place. Róbert Deli carried his team to an unlikely one-point victory against the heavily favoured home side in appalling conditions.
Ricany on the other hand, have been touted as a team capable of challenging the Romanian dominance. They came into the CEE Rugby Cup as holders of the Czech Cup and runners-up of the Czech League. After two close defeats in the first two games, which included a last minute penalty loss to Bulldogok, the third Pool game pitted them against rivals Dragon Brno only to result in a bore 0-0 draw. Ricany really have to step up a gear to prove to everybody, that they are real contenders for a place in the Final Gala.
